Our Founder

Rev. Brandan Robertson (He/Him) has been a fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion in religious communities and society for nearly a decade. Named one of the "top faith leaders advocating for LGBTQ+ inclusion" by the Human Rights Campaign, Robertson has served as an advisor on religion and LGBTQ+ human rights to the White House, Department of State, Department of Health and Human Services in the United States and to the Senate of the Republic of Ireland, the World Council of Churches, and countless NGO's across Europe. In 2023, Robertson launched the Beloved Foundation to counter the global resurgence of religiously-rooted bigotry towards the LGBTQ+ community in North America and around the world. Bringing together his expertise in theology, community organizing, public policy, and the rights of sexual and gender minorities, Robertson hopes BF will serve as a catalyst for social and spiritual renewal around the world. Robertson holds a Bachelors in Biblical Studies from the Moody Bible Institute, a Masters in Theological Studies from Iliff School of Theology, a Masters in Political Science from Eastern Illinois University, and is pursuing his PhD in Religion at Drew University.

Our Work

Educate: We create resources for faith communities, political leaders, and the public about the threats facing the LGBTQ+ community from religious sector in countries around the world, as well as providing resources to combat religious rooted bigotry from both a theological and social perspective.

Organize: We lead efforts to organize leaders and communities to stand for LGBTQ+ dignity and equality in countries around the world from an affirming faith perspective to see substantive change in ecclesial and political policies that harm sexual and gender minorities.

Empower: We create programming that empowers LGBTQ+ people who are facing the threat of religiously rooted discrimination to share their stories, find safe and affirming religious communities, and find healing from religious trauma.
